Dornoch Agricultural Show

In July I presented an exhibition entitled Religion and Spirituality at The Dornoch Agricultural Show. There was much interest shown particularly in a projected scheme for a Bahá’í Temple complex in Sutherland. In August I had a visit from MP John Thurso, and we discussed the possibility of my putting forward a design proposal for an Abrupt Climate Change Centre in Sutherland. He later suggested in correspondence that should I put forward such a scheme at the Dornoch Show in 2005 he would be interested in visiting it. This offers the opportunity for others to prepare a distinctly Bahá’í exhibition for the show. My contact with John Thurso was brought about by requests for his intervention for assistance for refugees as broadcast from the United Nations Association.

Visit to the Isle of Eigg

In September I went with a band of conservationists to the Isle of Eigg to build a bridge over a stream for the local community. We all had great fun despite the worst possible weather. I gave a talk on The Spiritual Foundations of Science, quoting from an essay by Anjam Khursheed, from the book Revisioning the Sacred, New Perspectives on a Bahá’í Theology. Studies in the Bábí and Bahá’í Religions. It left space for much discussion afterwards.

Yellow Pages

I have found that having my telephone number inserted in Yellow Pages is a great advantage for contacts for the Faith.

I am looking forward to next year and progress on my plans for The Five Year Plan for this area, and beyond. I hope soon to be able to visit some of the Bahá’í friends who are unable to get to meetings in this area.

Bridge of Weir

Interfaith Meeting – Bridge of Weir Holy Day

Bridge of Weir celebrated the Birthday of Bahá’u’lláh by putting on a party for 36 people, including 24 guests. The programme included an introduction to the event, songs, a fabulous buffet and a ceileidh. This is the first time that the community had hosted such a big event and going by the smiles on the faces when people left late at night it was a tremendous success.

DEADLINE for the next issue of THE SCOTTISH BAHÁ’Í is 15TH FEBRUARY
