Discovering the Sun — 160 pp., soft cover, 210 by 148mm, b/w illustrations Discovering the Moon — 136 pp., soft cover, 210 by 148mm, b/w illustrations ![]() Verily the religion of God is like unto heaven;
fasting the sun and obligatory prayer is its moon. These two books, also by Jackie Mehrabi, are captivating tales
of spiritual growth and community life set in the Orkney Islands. Together with Fern, the fifteen-year-old central
character of the books, the reader is taken on an exploration of the spiritual principles underlying fasting and the obligatory
prayers. A 15 year old youth growing up in a Bahá’í family and being part of a small community, Fern has many questions
about life and spiritual obligations, and finds many answers in different ways, sometimes by observing nature,
other times by discussion with a wonderful great grandpa and by deep reflection on the words of Bahá’u’lláh. The
books contain beautiful illustrations by Susan Reed. These are books suitable for children, junior youth, and parents to read with their children, and would make great
intercalary day presents; all are available from Brilliant Books,
